Our objective is simple: Texas can and must do better.
Our vision is one of renewal: a Texas with a new initiative, purpose, and energy.
Democrats are a party of ideas and ideals, but not of ideology. Our objectives are radical, but our means will be practical. Ours is not the politics of a revolution, but of beginning anew, the persistent rebuilding and restoration of this State – renewal that can take root and grow over time.
We believe in Texas. We are a great State with a great history. The people of Texas are a great people, but we can and must do better: better jobs, better schools, better health care, better policing, better roads and bridges, a cleaner environment, and a government responsive and responsible to its people. All of these things will equip us to compete in the new global economy in which we must now live.
We want a Texas that is one State, with common values and a common purpose, where merit comes before privilege, run for the many, not the few. We want to renew our State’s faith in the ability of its government and politics to deliver this new Texas. Above all, we want to govern in a way that brings Texas together, that unites our State in facing the difficult and perilous challenges of living in a new economy and a new society. We want a Texas that we all feel a part of, in whose future we all have a stake.
Our purpose is to give Texans a choice: the choice between a failed Republican government, exhausted and divided in everything other than its desire to cling on to power, and a new revitalized Democratic Party that has been transformed into the party of the future.
Our vision is one of renewal, a Texas with initiative, purpose and energy. A Texas equipped to prosper in a world economy of technological change, with a modern, efficient state, its government more accountable, and a Texas more confident of its future.
